Not Norman Theatre
Not Norman is a new theatre company whose debut production was 'A Quick Guide to Ruining Your Life'. It was founded by Diana Atkins who named the company after her Dad, Norman. As a female-led company, she wanted this to be reflected in the name and so the slightly quirky 'Not Norman' was born.
Not Norman's first production 'A Quick Guide to Ruining Your Life' was nominated for four awards as well as winning the 'Write for the Stage' New Writing Award. Not Norman plan to produce a wide variety of new and existing shows, from comedy to physical theatre, all linked simply by the fact that they spark a passion and excitement in those involved.
Our next project, Adult Children, is currently being researched and developed. This began life at REACT, at the Royal Exchange and is an autobiographical show about living life alongside family/partners with alcohol dependency.
Not Norman believe in bringing theatre to new audiences who may not have previously had the opportunity to attend the theatre before, by offering discounted and free tickets to community partners. Their mentorship schemes have supported the development of young disabled and LGBTQ creatives.
The Not Norman team will change for each production to suit the needs of the individual show.
